The Volkswagen Bulli concept vehicle, one of the highlights of the Geneva Motor Show, is likely to go into production, reports The Telegraph.
The car/bus/mini-motorhome hybrid is set to start at £15,000, etching another mark into VW's long prestigious history of larger than life vehicles.
"We asked for feedback from potential customers and we're getting it," said a senior VW official to Telegraph columnist Mike Rutherford. "And we want to hear from more of these current and future buyers. But to be honest, VW management is already saying we've got to have that vehicle on sale."
According to europeancarweb.com, the Bulli is powered by an electric motor and fitted with six seats and infotainment control via iPad.
Keen VW customers could be tempted into selling a car to raise some capital for the £15,000 vehicle.
However, the main problem with the car is delivering the unusual vehicle at a competitive price. But the firm are warming to the idea that there is a worldwide demand for production of the Bulli. If VW want to become the world's largest car manufacturer, then it has to produce "affordable, niche products to attract more customers."
Figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that one of the VW's vehicles, the ever popular Golf, was the best-selling car and Volkswagen the second best-selling brand in Britain in February.
